Meet A New Baby Giraffe at the Philadelphia Zoo

Last week my family and I enjoyed a nice day at the Philadelphia Zoo.  We were particularly excited because when we arrived we found out that a baby giraffe {born July 17th} was making her first public debut that day.

The baby, a girl, is yet to be named. The calf was born six feet tall and will continue to grow very rapidly in the coming months.  She is the first giraffe born at the Philadelphia Zoo in 13 years and was delivered after a gestation period of approximately 15 months – whew could you imagine?!

Here is a photo of her sneaking out to see her mommy;

The local news channel was able to catch her in action;

The Philadelphia Zoo has plenty of activities for kids, families and even a special evening for adults only.
